Reverend Walter D. Davis IV 

“The Lord is the Shepherd of His people”

 

 

Reverend Walter Da’Mond Davis IV was born in Louisville, Kentucky; to Walter Davis III and Vicki Jackman.  He received his early religious training as a young man at Third Street Christian Church.  He was inquisitive as a child and enjoyed reading the Bible and asking his pastor and grandmother, those tough questions.

 

After graduating from DuPont Manual High School and Youth Performing Art School in 1989, Reverend Davis went on to attend, Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, Florida on a full scholarship, where he ran track and played football.  Reverend Davis also attended Boyce College, and Simmons Bible College in Louisville, Kentucky.

 

February 2008, Reverend Davis enrolled at the Campbellsville University in Kentucky, to further his education toward his doctorate in Theology.

 

Reverend Davis is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity INC, NAACP, Prince Hall Masonic Order, and the Louisville Black Achievers Youth Program. Rev Davis is dedicated to working with troubled youth of the community in which he lives.

 

In 1999, Reverend Davis joined the Fifth Street Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky, where Rev. Phillip Hodge is pastor.  While under his pastoral leadership, Rev. Davis began to grow spiritually and received his call into the ministry; he was ordained into the ministry and preached his initial sermon in November of 2000.  He served as an assistant to the pastor under Reverend Hodge.

 

In August 2003, Reverend Davis was extended the call to pastor at Greater Gagel Christian Church.  Under his leadership the church membership increased from 4 members to 43 members within the first year. He established a Youth Mentoring Program as well as Hip Hop Hallelujah Sunday for the Youth, and Phase2 (a completion of a handicap ramp), Sunday Morning Services for the Youth.  His youth programs were awarded a $5000 donation from C. W. Johnson Associates. Reverend Davis also constructed a new administration office at the church. 

 

In August 2007, Reverend Davis was called to pastor Fourth Street Baptist Church in Owensboro, Kentucky. During Reverend Davis’s first year at Fourth Street, 57 new converts were added to the body, 36 of which were by baptism. A new computer operating system was installed. A new sound booth and sound system were installed and upgraded. New doors were added to the church, as well as a 75 space parking lot and playground facilities with full court basketball goals. The church debt went from $137,000 to $12,000.

 

In June 2008, Reverend Davis launched a young adult program into the community of Owensboro called radicals for Christ, which is a missional group that works outside of the church, and this program would go into the adult entertainment night clubs and serve lunch buffets and minister to the women at the club. This program changed the lives and thinking of many of the young women working in the club. 13 out of the 34 women walked away from the adult entertainment industry and joined the radicals for Christ.

 

In July 2009 Dr. Leonard Ramsey pastor and founder of Greater First Timothy Baptist Church in Louisville Kentucky was called home from labor to rest. Pastor Walter Davis was ask if he would come to Greater First Timothy to continue the vision that his uncle Dr. L.A. Ramsey had started.

 

On March 05, 2011, Reverend Davis was called to Pastor First Baptist Church of Campbellsville, in Campbellsville Kentucky.

 

Reverend Davis is married to the former Tara Nelson of Louisville, Kentucky and the proud father of four children; Tevin Davis, Ja’lisa Bollor, Jayce Firman and Ja’mia Nelson. 

 

Reverend Davis is known best for his quote “There can be no me without you, and there can be no you without me”.
